BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall delivered a decisive 79-29 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved 4-2, 2-2 CC while the Owls dropped to 0-6, 0-4 CC.
After a tightly contested opening minutes of play, a layup from Kristin Hamill gave the Diplomats the 8-7 lead and started F&M on a 14-2 run to close out the first quarter. Erica Brown tallied the last six points of the quarter to bring the score to 22-9.
A three-pointer from Haley Pilone at 7:16 in the second quarter put F&M up by 20 points at 29-9. A Sarah Pisani layup continued the Diplomats on their 12-0 run in the second. Erica Dwyer drained a three with just over two minutes left in the half to put the Diplomats ahead by 30 points. Emily Moran caused a steal and took the ball herself to the basket to score the final F&M points of the half. Bryn Mawr recorded the final four points of the second quarter to make the score 47-15 going into the break.
Anajha Burnett hit a three-pointer five minutes into the third quarter to extend F&M's lead to 61-15. Another three from Dwyer maintained the Diplomats' 17-2 run in the third and helped F&M go 4-7 from behind the arc in the quarter. Burnett made a jumper off a pass from Moran to give the Diplomats the 69-23 after three quarters of play.
F&M kept up the pace, outscoring Bryn Mawr 10-6 in the fourth quarter and took the 79-29 win.
Brown led all scorers with 20 points, going 8-for-11 on the day, and came away with eight rebounds and two blocks. Hamill recorded her second double-double of the season with 18 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds.
The Diplomats return to action taking on Johns Hopkins on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Lancaster.
