Strong performances throughout the season, followed by a finish near the top-half of the field at the NCAA Mid-East Regionals, led to another successful campaign for the 2017 Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team.
Spencer Lyman '19 paced all Diplomat runners with a 70th-place showing out of 365 competitors and a time of 26:49.6 at Regionals, which took place on Nov. 11 in Newville, Pa. Bryce Williams '19 was next with a time of 27:07.1 to secure 92nd, while Pat Manion '19 finished at 27:31.0 to take 120th.
F&M captured the team title at the Battle for the Buggy on Oct. 7 when the Diplomats distanced themselves from a field of four teams, due to placing three runners in the top-10. Lyman led the pack at 28:58, which was good for sixth, followed by Manion in seventh (29:26) and Matt Krogstad '21 in eighth (29:42).
The following weekend, F&M continued its torrid stretch with a second-place finish out of 12 squads at the Hood Invitational. The Diplomats featured four runners in the top-20 of the competition and were led by Manion's seventh-place showing.
