LEWISBURG, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's wrestling team dropped a 35-6 match against Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) foe Bucknell Sunday on the road.
The Diplomats' season dual record dropped to 2-6, 0-5 EIWA while the Bison improved to 6-7, 4-3 EIWA.
A decision at 125 and a tech. fall at 133 gave Bucknell an early 8-0 advantage. Wil Gil countered at 141 pounds with his 6-4 decision victory, earning his 11th win in a row. Gil remained unbeaten in dual-meet competition at 5-0 on the season.
The three-point margin was all the closer the Diplomats would get as Bucknell rattled off six-straight wins, including first-period pins at 149, 157, and 165.
Antonio Pelusi, the nation's No. 32 grappler was once again victorious for F&M at 285 pounds with his 8-2 decision to close out the match on a high note. Pelusi is now 8-0 in duals this season, 11-1 against EIWA competition, and has won seven consecutive contests.
F&M returns to Mayser on Friday, celebrating senior day when the Diplomats face VMI at 7:00 p.m.
