Both Durso (141) and Pelusi (285) punched their tickets to the NCAA Tournament over the weekend when the Diplomat grapplers placed first and fifth respectively in their weight classes at the EIWA Championships.
Durso became the first F&M wrestler to qualify for the NCAA Tournament four times after earning his second EIWA Championship at 141. His highest finish at the NCAAs was eighth in 2014 when he became the program's first All-American since 1981.
Pelusi won four out of five consolation matchups, including upset victories over the bracket's No.'s 4, 5 and 8 wrestlers at 285 to secure fifth place at the EIWA Championships. His performance was the best for a heavyweight at the Championships since Bob Bickelman took third in 1976.
F&M has not had multiple wrestlers qualify for the NCAAs since 1994 when Ed Moore and Vic Bernardino accomplished the feat.
