PRINCETON, N.J. – The Franklin & Marshall wrestling team battled Princeton in the early going of Saturday afternoon's dual in New Jersey but ultimately was outmatched in a 34-10 defeat. The Diplomats fell to 5-5 on the year while the Tigers improved to 5-1.
Jason Bing got F&M off on the right foot with a dominating 12-1 major decision at 125 that included four takedowns. Bing secured four points for the Diplomats with an escape, a takedown and two near fall points in the third period.
The Tigers took back three points with a decision at 133, but Richard Durso pushed the advantage to 7-3 with a decision of his own at 141. A winner of 10-straight bouts dating back to Dec. 29, Durso claimed his 25th victory of the season with a pair of takedowns en route to the 7-2 decision.
After Princeton captured a tech. fall win at 149 to take an 8-7 advantage, Andrew Murano turned in a gutsy effort at 157, coming away with a 3-2 decision to reclaim the advantage for the Diplomats at 10-8. However, the Tigers followed with two falls, a pair of majors, and a pin at 285 to close out the competition.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats hit the road to take on Drexel at 7:00 p.m.
