John D. Stoudt enters his 11th season as head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams in 2018.
Under Stoudt’s tutelage, The F&M men’s cross country team has consistently been of the region’s top programs. He has led the Diplomats to top-20 finishes at the Mid-East Regionals in six of the previous seven years, including a 10th-place showing in 2012, and a 12th-place finish in 2016. The women’s side finished as high as ninth in 2010, the program’s best finish since securing fifth in 1999.
During his time at F&M, Stoudt coached Sheena Crawley, one of the most prolific runners in F&M history, to seven of her eight All-America honors, including three All-America nods in both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years (cross country, indoor and outdoor track). Crawley placed 11th at nationals for cross country in 2011, was second in the mile with a time of 4:49.45 in 2013, finished third in the 1500 with the sixth fastest time ever in DIII (4:21.23) at the 2013 outdoor nationals and was a two-time Mid-East Region Track Athlete of the Year.
Stoudt also oversaw several impressive performances as the distance coach for the men’s and women’s track & field squads. He has coached F&M's first-ever 4x800 relay title teams, while his runners hold 17 school records and seven conference marks.
Intimately familiar with the local running scene, Stoudt has served as the Head Cross Country Coach at Lancaster Catholic from 2001 through 2005, and as the Head Track & Field Coach at Lancaster Catholic from 2004 through 2006. He also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Conestoga Valley for several seasons.
Stoudt is an accomplished runner, having won local races such as the Market Street Mile and the Master's title at Shiver by the River Winter Series. He has also run with a group of local elite runners that claimed several long distance relays throughout the Mid-Atlantic and out West on courses ranging from 70 to 200 miles. Stoudt also placed ninth in the USATF Masters cross country national championships.
Stoudt graduated from Kutztown with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and completed his Masters in Education, Sports Management, at Millersville University in December of 2007. He currently works as a fitness consultant at Spooky Nook Sports. He holds a USATF Level 1 track & field coaching certification and resides in Lancaster with his wife, Michelle.
