LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall men's track and field is set to open its outdoor season this Saturday by heading to Mary Washington for a meet in Fredericksburg, Va. The Diplomats look to return to the top three spots in the Centennial Conference (CC) after finishing third at the CC Championships in the last two spring seasons.

Evan Friend, the conference's two-time defending champion in 100- and 200-meter dash, was lost to graduation, but a number of strong performances from veterans and newcomers alike during the winter have F&M aiming high again for the outdoor season.

Michael Whalen – Sr.
Lewis returns for his junior season after winning the shotput and taking silver in the discus last spring at the CC Championships. The junior is fresh off his second consecutive shotput victory at the indoor championships, and is aiming for a first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Kozloski and Erisman both return as part of a medal-winning duo in the javelin at last year's CC Championships. Bates made the most of his first appearance at the CC Championships this winter, taking second in the 60-meter hurdles and sixth in the 200-meter dash. Whalen, a senior captain, aims for a strong final campaign after earning silver during the winter as part of F&M's 4x800-meter relay team.
The Road Ahead
Following the trip to Mary Washington this Saturday, F&M returns home on March 25 to host Dickinson and Gettysburg in the Little Three Meet. The Diplomats remain close to home the following weekend, heading across town for the Millersville Metrics on April 1.
April also includes meets at Delaware (April 8), East Stroudsburg (April 22), and West Chester (April 28).
CC Outdoor Championships run from May 5-7, and are hosted in Baltimore by Johns Hopkins. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for May 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio.
