LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall is set to compete at the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) Men's Track & Field Championships starting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Muhlenberg, with day two starting at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday and day three beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. The three-day event will take place at Scotty Wood Stadium.
The Diplomats, who placed sixth at the 2014 outdoor championships and third at the 2015 indoor championships, are currently near the top of the conference in many different events. Evan Friend holds the top time in the CC in the 100-meter dash at 10.79, while the junior brings the second-best time in the 200-meter dash (22.00) to the championships as well. Luk Olenginski is ranked second in the conference in the 800-meter at 1:54.10 and third in the 1500-meter (3:57.98).
Freshman Michael Hoffman has the top time in the 110-hurdles (15.06) and the 400-hurdles (56.92), and Logan Lewis (49'-2.25") and Vincent Acosta (44'-5.25") hold the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, in the shot put.
At the CC Championships last season, Leo Generali, Derek Pawlush, Greg Olenginski and L. Olenginski took gold in the 4x800 relay with a time of 7:40.46, breaking the old CC Championships record of 7:43.42, achieved by Gettysburg in 2010.
Friend won two silver medals, in the 100-meter dash (10.92) and in the 200-meter dash (21.93), while Acosta grabbed silver in the shot put with a throw of 45'-08.50" and added a bronze medal in the discus at 138'-02".
The CC Championships open Friday with the decathlon, pole vault, heptathlon, and 10,000-meter run.
