MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Evan Friend won the 100-meter dash to lead the Franklin & Marshall men's track & field team to an eighth place finish out of 20 teams at the 33rd annual Millersville Metrics on Saturday. The Diplomats accumulated 47 points, while Shippensburg won the event with 104, followed by West Chester in second at 94.50 and Indiana (Pa.) in third at 89.
Friend's time of 11.14 in the 100-meter dash was good for the win, while Brad Krell placed 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.92. Out of 37 runners, Greg Olenginski finished 14th in the 400-meter dash at 52.12 and Luk Olenginski crossed at 52.27 in 16th place.
In the 800-meter run, Derek Pawlush had a good showing with a second place finish (1:57.77), while L. Olenginski (1:59.14) and G. Olenginski (2:04.21) placed fifth and ninth respectively. Michael Hoffman was third in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.59 and Michael Whalen placed fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:14.15. A team of Leo Generali, John Vallachi, Philip Johnson, and Pawlush earned a second place spot in the 4x800 relay at 8:30.38.
Logan Lewis' distance of 45'-06.50" in the shot put was good for sixth, while Acosta (42'-04.75") finished 12th. Acosta then competed in the discus throw, and had a throw of 123'-09", good for 14th, while Ryan Kozloski was eighth in the javelin throw at 169'-08".
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday at the Delaware Open.
