SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Evan Friend grabbed two silver medals to lead the Franklin & Marshall men's track & field team on the last day of the 2014 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. The Diplomats finished in sixth place with 60 points, while Johns Hopkins was the winner with 209.50, followed by Haverford with 167 and Dickinson with 133.
Friend finished second in the 100-meter dash finals with a time of 10.92 and followed with another second-place showing in the 200-meter dash finals at 21.93.
Vincent Acosta grabbed silver in the shot put with a throw of 45'-08.50" and the bronze in the discus at 138'-02".
Luk Olenginski nabbed eighth place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:59.11, while a team of Derek Pawlush, Greg Olenginski, L. Olenginski and Leo Generali took bronze in the 4x400 relay at 3:22.58.
Ryan Kozloski had a solid day, finishing fourth in the javelin at 179'-11" and sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 41'-08.50".
Several Diplomats will compete at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on May 12, while others will participate at the ECAC Championships hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on May 15 and 16.
