4x800 Relay Breaks CC Championship Record; Grabs Gold

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Leo Generali, Derek Pawlush, Greg Olenginski, and Luk Olenginski made up the 4x800 relay team that took gold to lead the Franklin & Marshall men's track & field team on day two of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships hosted by Swarthmore. The Diplomats have 16 points and sit in fifth place, while Johns Hopkins leads with 88 points, followed by Haverford in second with 63 and Dickinson third with 46. 

The 4x800 relay squad finished with a time of 7:40.46, which is a new CC Championships record, previously held by Gettysburg's relay team (7:43.42) in 2010.

Evan Friend also put together an impressive day for F&M as he finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.05) and the 200-meter dash (22.31), just .02 seconds behind Ursinus' Patrick Mekongo. Friend will compete in the finals in both events tomorrow. 

In the 400-meter hurdles, Alex Osei earned a fourth-place spot with a time of 58.43, while Philip Johnson placed eighth in the 800-meter run at 1:58.74.

Vincent Acosta's throw of 138'-02" in the discus was good for third place and a bronze medal, while Bob McCarron was 11th with a throw of 105'-10". 

The Diplomats will conclude the CC Championships tomorrow.
