  • Friend Competes at Day Two of ECAC Championships

    Evan Friend competed in the 2014 ECAC Championships hosted by Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Friday for the Franklin & Marshall men’s track & field team. Friend, the only Diplomat to compete in Friday’s events, earned three points for F&M who sits in 49th place out of 57 schools.

    Rebecca Swisher was impressive in the pole vault event for the Franklin & Marshall women’s track team and Evan Friend was just as impressive for the men’s track & field team at the 2014 ECAC Championships hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Thursday. Swisher and the Diplomats currently sit in 16th place with six points out of 37 teams, while Friend only competed in a qualifying race and did not compete in any races for points yet.

    Last week at the Centennial Conference (CC) men’s track & field championships, the Franklin & Marshall 4x800 relay team eased by the rest field and demolished a 23-year old CC Championships record in the process, but it is a high school rivalry that brought three of these runners together and is what makes sports worth caring about.
  • Friend Paces F&M at CC Championships

    Evan Friend grabbed two silver medals to lead the Franklin & Marshall men’s track & field team on the last day of the 2014 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. The Diplomats finished in sixth place with 60 points, while Johns Hopkins was the winner with 209.50, followed by Haverford with 167 and Dickinson with 133.
  • 4x800 Relay Breaks CC Championship Record; Grabs Gold

    Leo Generali, Derek Pawlush, Greg Olenginski, and Luk Olenginski made up the 4x800 relay team that took gold to lead the Franklin & Marshall men’s track & field team on day two of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships hosted by Swarthmore. The Diplomats have 16 points and sit in fifth place, while Johns Hopkins leads with 88 points, followed by Haverford in second with 63 and Dickinson third with 46.

    The Franklin & Marshall men’s track and field team had many top performances throughout the Delaware Open on Saturday. The Diplomats competed against several schools including Delaware, Monroe, Harcum, Towson, and Valley Forge.

    With several top 10 finishes on the day, The Franklin & Marshall men’s track and field team compiled 22 points to finish 16th out of 28 teams at the 32nd annul Millersville Metrics on Saturday. Shippensburg won the event with 108.50 points, followed by Indiana (Pa.) with 59 and Lock Haven with 55.

    The Franklin & Marshall men’s track & field team competed in the 65th annual Little Three Meet yesterday at Sponaugle-Williamson Field. Due to rainy weather conditions, the pole vault event was postponed to this Wednesday, so finals scores are not yet available. Dickinson sits in first place with 132.50 points, F&M is in second at 122, and Gettysburg is in third place at 111.50. The results from Saturday’s meet were not made available until Sunday morning.
