LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's track & field team will begin competition at the 2013 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Friday at Ursinus. The three-day event will take place at Patterson Field.
The Diplomats will look to build off of a seventh-place team finish at the 2013 CC Indoor Championships and a sixth-place mark at last year's outdoor event.
Multiple F&M competitors enter this weekend's event at or near the top of the CC with their outdoor performances. Nils Michaelis sits atop the conference in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 400 hurdles. A two-time CC gold medalist, Michaelis has regained the form that earned him two golds and a bronze in the 2011 outdoor meet after suffering through injuries much of last season.
Luk Olenginski's also ranks at the top of the Centennial entering this weekend as his school-record time of 1:53.44 in the 800 gives him the top seed time in the event.
Brian Rivera ranks second in the 400 hurdles, behind only Michaelis, while Taaj Amin and Vincent Acosta enter CC's in third in the 100 meters and shot put, respectively. Jon Pressman also ranks in the top-five in the pole vault heading into this weekend.
Day one of the CC Championships begins on Friday with the decathlon, pole vault, heptathlon, and 10,000 meters.
