Michaelis, Pressman Claim Silver at Delaware Open

NEWARK, Del.  – Nils Michaelis and Jon Pressman nabbed second-place finishes to headline the Franklin &  Marshall men's track & field team's performance at the Delaware Open on Saturday. There was no team scoring in the event that featured primarily Division I opponents.

Michaelis ran the 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 to claim silver, trailing the first-place finisher by just 0.2 seconds, while Pressman took second in the pole vault with a mark of 11'-05.75".

Vincent Acosta delivered a pair of solid finishes, taking sixth in the discus (128'-06") and seventh in the shot put (40'-11.75"), while Bob McCarron took 10th in both events.

Nick Fromell placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 39'-10.00", while Josh Wesalo grabbed fifth in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:52.24.

Taaj Amin took seventh in the 100 meters at 11.25, while also placing 16th in the 200 at 23.46. Evan Friend finished ninth in the 45-person field in the 200, crossing the line in 22.86.

Brian Rivera secured 16th in the 42-person field in the 400 meters at 52.21, while Brad Krell claimed 20th at 52.51.

Andrew Marra took 17th in the 1500 with a mark of 4:27.64.

Several Diplomats will be in action tomorrow at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic, while the full squad will compete at the Moravian Open next Saturday.
