Michaelis Paces F&M to Sixth Place

NEWARK, Del. -- Nils Michaelis picked up two top-five finishes to lead F&M to a sixth place finish at the Blue Hens' Thomson Invitational at the Delaware Field House Saturday. The Diplomats competed in a field of division II and III competitors with 16 teams competing. East Stroudsburg took the team title.

Michaelis placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.42 and took fourth in the 400-meter dash finishing with a 52.50.  Ryan Bell ran a 1:09.63 in the 500-meter for a second place finish. Bell took his second top-ten finish in the 1-mile run, finishing seventh with a 4:30.67.  Mike Dohrmann finished right behind Bell in the 500-meter, placing third with a 1:09.90.
    
The Diplomats finished in a pack in 1000-meter, placing runners fourth through sixth. Ezra Rothman finished at 2:45.05, Greg Duckloe turned in a 2:47.31 while Joe Strawitz crossed the line at 2:48.51. Duckloe added a ninth place finish in the mile with a time of 4:46.61.

Steve Barna finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 40'-3.50".

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M travels to Ursinus.
