LANCASTER, Pa. -- Nils Michaelis won the 55-meter dash, 55-meter hurdlers and the 200-meter on Saturday at the Coach I Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall. Michaelis finished the 55m in 6.78 and turned in a 7.91 in the hurdlers. He ran a 23.54 in the 200m followed closely by Tim Tillman and Mike Dohrman who finished third and fourth. The meet was a non-team scoring event and featured participants from Division's II and III.
The Diplomats had a good showing throughout the meet, winning multiple events. The 4x800 relay team took first, crossing the line at 8:30.52. The 4x400 relay team also placed first with a time of 3:36.10.
Ryan Bell and Eric Olsen placed second and seventh, respectively, in the 3000-meter run. Bell finished at 9:08.42 and Olsen crossed at 9:37.77. Duckloe, Franklin Dekker, Francis Blancero and Andrew Marra placed third through sixth, in that order, in the one-mile run.
Angelo Arce and Kwaku Anno took fifth and sixth in the 800-meter. Arce ran a 2:06.67 and Anno crossed at 2:06.79. Christian O'Connor took second in weight throw. O'Connor threw a distance of 11.97 meters.
The Coach I Open is named after long-time track & field coach Bill Iannicelli '43. Iannicelli coached at F&M for 33 years and the Willow Valley resident was in attendance at the meet.
F&M returns to action on February 7th when the Diplomats travel to East Stroudsburg.
