HAVERFORD, Pa. - Nils Michaelis was awarded champion in the 55-meter hurdles and Kwaku Anno claimed the 400-meter dash to lead the Franklin & Marshall men's indoor track and field team to a seventh-place finish at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Saturday.
Michaelis, who competed in his first ever CC Championships, earned top honors in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.96 seconds. Mike Dohrman followed in fifth place in 8.33 seconds. Michaelis also took home fourth place in the 55-meter dash, clocking in at 6.72 seconds.
Anno took home gold for the second time in two years in the 400 with an impressive mark of 50.96 second, shattering his 2009 winning time of 51.14 seconds. His launch of 6.53 meters earned Anno second place in the long jump. Marc Brookland of Muhlenberg edged Anno with a distance of 6.61 meters.
The Diplomats received a notable amount of points from the relay teams, with the 4x400 team made up of Tim Tillman, Eric Pierot, Dohrmann, and Anno finishing in first place with a time of 3:30.92. The 4x200-meter relay team of Michaelis, Anno, Pierot, and Tillman which, ran a time of 1:33.33, captured second place. The time was just .34 behind first place Muhlenberg.
F&M finished the meet in seventh place with 54 points. Dickinson took home first with 129 points.
