LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's and women's swimming teams delivered a strong start to the 2018-19 season, breaking three program records and posting 18 new top-10 times in the program through the opening semester.
NCAA Projections: Based on this fall's races and times, SwimSwam's Swimulator, a system that stimulates national meets using swimmer's top times, places the men's team 15th at NCAA Championships. This reflects the strength of the team across Division III.

Sophomore Christopher Schiavone is on track to return to NCAA's for the second year in a row, tallying two B-cuts, first in the 100-yard Freestyle with a 44.49 finish and in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 20.49.
Men's Records: The men's team set three program records this fall, first, Schiavone set the 100-yard freestyle mark after leading off the 400 Relay team with a 44.49 swim on Nov. 18 at the F&M Invite. With the strong start from Schiavone, the 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Brendan Cline, Timothy Gould, and Adam Moskus were able to pull out a 3:03.88 finish for the program record.
During the first night of the F&M Invite, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay team (Schiavone, Gould, Cline, Moskus) delivered a 1:23.54 mark to reset the record.
Women's Top Times: The women's team currently has three top-50 times across all Division III competitors. The 800-yard Freestyle Relay team (Amelia Bothwell, Katherine Hirsch, Diane Wagner, Tara Kupsky) notched a 7:58.25 finish which currently ranks 38th while the 400-yard Medley Relay team's (Janashree Jonnalagadda, Kupsky, Leah Williamson, Julia Pavlov) 4:00.60 time is good for 40th.
Kupsky leads the individual swimmers, currently ranking 43rd in the 400-yard IM after a 4:36.34 race at the F&M Invite on Nov. 17.
Men's Top Times: All of the men's relay teams sit in the top-25 in the nation led by the 400-yard Relay team in 11th. The 800-yard Freestyle Relay team's (Schiavone, Gould, Cline, Moskus) 6:56.89 finish is good for 14th, followed by the 200-yard Freestyle Relay team in 17th. The 400-yard Medley Relay team (Alec Wahl, Thomas Graminski, Daniel Sanders, Schiavone – 3:24.99) ranks 19th while the 200-yard Medley team (Wahl, Graminski, Cline, Schiavone – 1:32.98) sits 21st.
Schiavone holds the fifth time in DIII in the 100-yard Freestyle and 12th time in the 50-yard Freestyle. Gould also notched a top-50 finish in the 100-yard Backstroke, taking 50th with a time of 51.11.
Delia Reaches 100: With a clean sweep against Arcadia on Nov. 10, coach Ben Delia notched his 100th and 101st career wins. Prior to his tenure at F&M, Delia spent four years as the head women's swimming coach at Randolph-Macon College where he accumulated a 27-12 dual meet record. Going into the final half of the season, Delia holds a 40-35-1 record with the women and a 34-34 record with the men.
