LANCASTER, Pa. – Men's swimming begins 2015-16 action on Saturday by visiting Washington College for a Centennial Conference (CC) dual meet. Following a third place finish at last season's CC Championships, the Diplomats are looking to challenge for the team title and improve on last year's four medals.

F&M scored 499 points at last season's CC Championships, taking third place behind Gettysburg (763.5) and Washington (594). Four medals and a 5-3 record in dual meets made 2014-15 a strong year for the Diplomats, but one that the 2015-16 squad expects to improve on.
Hindering F&M's progress will be the loss of the versatile Richard Denton, part of the 800-yard freestyle relay team that won silver last year. Also departed is Dennis Chen, who was a member of that second place relay team and part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that took bronze.
A talented corps of four freshmen look to make an immediate impact in sprint relays, backstroke, and butterfly event. The newcomers will combine with 13 returners to make up a deep and talented squad.
Ryan Caffrey – So.
Eric Lang – So.
David Burton – So.
Matthew Murphy – Jr.
Last year's medal winners will provide the foundation for a young F&M squad. Sophomore Ryan Caffrey won gold in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.33 and looks to improve that time while retaining his title in 2015-16. He also finished seventh in the 100-yard freestyle.
Sophomore Eric Lang won silver in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:54.87, and will look to stand out again this season.
Junior Matthew Murphy and Sophomore David Burton joined Chen and Caffrey to earn bronze in the 200-yard freestyle relay. With three legs of the relay returning, look for more success in that event.
The CC Preseason Poll places the Diplomats in third place with 24 points, following leaders Gettysburg (35 points) and Washington (30 points) in second. Swarthmore (19) and Ursinus (18) close out the top five.
The regular season and conference seasons will both begin on Saturday as the Diplomats take on CC opponent Washington. The following weekend presents another big conference challenge when F&M hosts Swarthmore on Nov. 7.
After welcoming Johns Hopkins on Nov. 13, the Diplomats will host the F&M Invitational, which will run from Nov. 20-22.
Following the F&M Invitational the Diplomats will travel to Ashland, Va. for the Randolph-Macon Invitational in the only scheduled meet in December.
This year CC Championships, set to take place between Feb. 19 and 21, will take place at Gettysburg
