LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's swimming team will start competition at the 2014-15 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Friday at Gettysburg, with the three-day event taking place at Gettysburg College Bullets Pool.

The Diplomats hope to continue their 2014-15 success, as F&M finished out the regular season with a 5-3, 4-2 CC mark, good for third place in the conference.

F&M's last CC Crown came back in 2010, when the Diplomats edged Swarthmore 845-732. Since then, Gettysburg has won three straight, including a dominant performance last year when the Bullets scored 757 points and Dickinson placed second with 553. F&M finished in fifth place with 419 points.

In the CC's history, only Gettysburg or F&M has won the championship. The Bullets have 11 victories, while the Diplomats have eight.

Several F&M swimmers who contributed in last year's championships return this year. Richard Denton, Patrick Greaney, and Dennis Chen earned silver in the 800-yard freestyle relay and a bronze in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Denton earned a fourth-place spot in 200-yard butterfly at 1:56.13.

Several F&M freshmen will also have a significant impact at the championships. Eric Lang holds the best time in the CC in the 100-yard breaststroke at 58.22, a time he posted at the Zippy Invitational in December. His time of 2:08.75 in the 200-yard breaststroke is also good for first in the Centennial this season.

Caffrey has the fifth-fastest time in the Centennial in the 50-yard freestyle with 21.77 at the Zippy Invitational, while Dennis Chen's time of 1:44.86 in the 200-yard freestyle is good for fourth. Andreas Lair Ferrari posted a time of 4:51.23 in the 500-yard freestyle on Jan. 23 against McDaniel, which is fourth-best in the conference.

Patrick Greaney's time of 16:48.61 in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the Zippy Invitational is good for second in the conference, and Denton's time of 1:55.96 in the 200-yard butterfly at the Zippy Invitational is the top time in the CC this season.
