LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall came away with a sixth place spot in men's swimming action at the 2014 F&M Invite. Out of nine teams, Stevens won the Invite with 1005.5 points, followed by 609.5 from Washington & Lee and Saint Vincent with 454.
Dennis Chen finished second in the consolations of the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.61, while Jack Currie earned a fourth-place spot in the 200-yard backstroke consolation, touching the wall at 2:03.08.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Eric Lang earned points for F&M with a time of 1:00.23, while the freshman added a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:00.81.
David Burton (2:01.40) and Richard Denton (2:01.56) finished second and third, respectively, in the consolation final of the 200-yard butterfly, and Ryan Caffrey touched first in the 200-yard individual medley relay consolation final (ninth overall)
In the night's final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, a team of Chen, Burton, Denton, and Caffrey placed seventh at 3:16.27 to earn points for the Diplomats.
F&M returns to the pool when a portion of the team travels to the Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio for a three-day event starting on Dec. 5.
