F&M Advances Nine into Finals

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's swimming team advanced nine swimmers from this morning's preliminaries into tonight's finals at the F&M Invitational. 

In the 50-yard freestyle, Ryan Caffrey advanced to tonight's final with a time of 22.52, good for 15th out of 57 swimmers. Patrick Greaney was solid in the 400-yard individual medley with an eight-place finish in 4:25.76, while Matthew Pozmanter also advanced to the final at 4:28.53.

Richard Denton will swim in tonight's 100-yard butterfly final after an 11th place finish (53.74), and Richard Perry will join him after a 54.39 showing.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Dennis Chen posted a time of 1:48.90, good for 12th, and advanced to the final, while Eric Lang finished seventh (2:12.43) in the 200-yard breaststroke to also advance. 

Jack Currie (56.12) and Denton (56.47) are through to the 100-yard backstroke final after finishing 13th and 14th, respectively. 

The only timed final of the morning was the 800-yard freestyle, and a team of Chen, Greaney, Denton, and Lang earned points for the Diplomats with a seventh-place finish at 7:18.77. 

After the 800-yard freestyle, F&M remains in sixth place with 93 points, while Stevens holds a strong lead with 232 points. 

Day two finals begin at 6:00 p.m. this evening.
