Diplomats Fall to Blue Jays in Season Opener

BALTIMORE, Md. – Franklin & Marshall's men's swimming team dropped its season opener 205.5-56.5 against Johns Hopkins on Saturday.  The loss brings the Diplomats' record to 0-1 while the Blue Jays improve to 2-0.

Johns Hopkins jumped out to the early lead, taking the first six events of the meet.  On the afternoon, the Blue Jays won 13 of the 14 events.

John Zipp earned F&M's lone win in the meet, touching the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.76.  Teammate Patrick Musselman place fourth in the event with a time of 22.84.

Zipp also had a strong showing in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing second with a time of 48.46.  Will Kimball of Johns Hopkins won the event, finishing only 1.5 seconds ahead of Zipp.

Dennis Chen had his best showing of the day in the 500-yard freestyle, placing third with a time of 5:17.31.

The Diplomats return to the pool Saturday, Nov. 10th to face off against Swarthmore in CC action.  The meet is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
