GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's swimming team is in third place after the first day of the Centennial Conference championship. The Diplomats claimed gold, silver, and bronze as F&M (176) trails Dickinson (195) and Gettysburg (248).
The 200 free relay team of, Dennis Chen, Zach Wilt, Jin Hwang, and John Zipp picked up the bronze with a 1:26.71, edging out Ursinus (1:26.78). Patrick Musselman, Billy Cappuccio, Jake Reingold, and Ryan Anella finished 10th at 1:27.28.
The Diplomats placed four swimmers in the top 16 in the 500 free led by Tim Landon's (4:41.26) second place finish. Reingold (4:46.07) came in fifth, Chen claimed seventh at 4:51.72, and Paul Edwards was 15th with a 4:54.97.
John Zip and Zach Wilt came in 10th and 11th in the 50 free, finishing .10 seconds a part 21.69 and 21.79.
Fell, Cappuccio, Denton, and Chen earned a fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay with a 3:32.06. Ursinus, Dickinson, and Gettysburg earned medals in the event. Musselman, Cantania, Wilt, and Hwang placed 12th in the event with a time of 3:38.48.
Swimming resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. with preliminaries of 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 800 free relay.
