Diplomats Top Bates; Advance to Summers Cup Final

HARTFORD, Conn. – Sanjay Jeeva's 3-0 sweep at No. 1 sealed No. 19 Franklin & Marshall's 5-4 victory over No. 18 Bates on Saturday evening at the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships. 

The Summers Cup Semifinal win improved the Diplomats to 5-15 on the year and propelled F&M into tomorrow's Championship match against No. 17 Dickinson at 2:00 p.m.

By the Numbers 

The Diplomats won each of the top three spots in the order, including sweeps from Jeeva (No. 1) and Yannis Senkel (No. 3). Frank Murray also blanked his opponent with a 3-0 win at No. 8.

Only one match went to five frames with the Bobcats earning a 3-2 win at No. 9. 

F&M's win over Bates avenged a 7-2 loss to the Bobcats back on Jan. 27 and improved the Diplomats' all-time record in the series to 13-11.

F&M is looking for its first Summers Cup Championship since 2003, which also marked the Diplomats' last Division Title at the CSA Team Championships. The Diplomats faced Dickinson twice this season, winning by a 5-4 score on Nov. 11 and falling by the same tally on Feb. 10.
