LANCASTER, Pa. - A pair of Franklin & Marshall student-athletes earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Men's All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team. Connor Whitacre landed on the First Team, while A.J. Kopacz garnered a place on the Third Team.
Whitacre (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) collected his first-career All-Region accolade after also earning his first All-CC First Team nod earlier in November. The junior captain led the team and tied for seventh in the CC in goals with six. One of only two F&M players to start all 21 games, Whitacre's 12 points tied for the Diplomats' lead as the midfielder paced F&M with three game-winners on the year.
Kopacz (Green Brook, N.J. / Oratory Prep.) also received All-CC Second Team honors following his stellar first-year campaign for F&M. His six goals in 2018 tied for the team lead and place seventh in the Centennial. Starting 18 games on the backline, Kopacz tallied a pair of game-winners on the season.
The Diplomats finished 2018 with a 14-4-2 overall record after earning its sixth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament - a record streak for any CC team. F&M advanced out of the First Round for the fifth time in the last six years with a thrilling 2-1 2OT victory against Western Connecticut St. on Nov. 10.
