LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Jason Tonelli and Wyatt Fabian were both named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Men's Soccer Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team. Tonelli earned the honor for the first time in his career, while Fabian garnered a spot on the list for the second straight season after landing on the first team last year.
Tonelli (Freehold, N.J. / Colts Neck) received his second postseason distinction after he was one of just four members of the Centennial Conference (CC) to repeat on the All-CC First Team. He placed sixth in the Conference with 22 points and was fifth with 11 goals. His five game-winning goals were third among CC players and the 13 in his career were good for second in the F&M program record book.
The senior forward concluded his career ninth in total points (59), seventh in goals (28), sixth in points-per-game average (0.79), and fifth in goals-per-game average with 0.37.
Fabian (Sinking Spring, Pa. / Hill School) joined Tonelli on the All-Region Second Team after also repeating as a First Team member on the All-CC list. The senior defender started all 19 of F&M's contests on the backline. He helped spearhead a unit that allowed just 1.07 goals per game, the third-best mark in the Conference. Fabian chipped in on the offensive end as well with two goals and an assist.
A transfer from Division I Lafayette following his freshman season, Fabian went on to start all 62 games he appeared in during his three years as a Diplomat, which placed 10th on the program's all-time list.
F&M produced another remarkable season by finishing the 2017 campaign with a 11-6-2 overall record and a 7-1-1 CC mark. The Diplomats won the program's second-ever CC Championship with a 1-0 shutout of Dickinson on Nov. 5 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in history, and fifth consecutive season.
