LANCASTER, Pa. -- No. 12 Dickinson defeated No. 10 Franklin & Marshall 11-9 in men's lacrosse action Wednesday evening. The Diplomats fell to 11-3, 5-2 CC, while the Red Devils improved to 12-3, 6-1 CC.
F&M took the early lead 55 seconds into the game, but the Red Devils answered with a three-goal run and went ahead 3-1. The Diplomats came within a goal, 3-2, at the end of the first. Two early goals from the Red Devils made it 5-2, and after a score from F&M, Dickinson scored three unanswered and went into the break with an 8-3 advantage.
The Red Devils made it 9-3 at 13:01 in the third and F&M countered with a pair to make it 9-5. Two more points from Dickinson pushed the Red Devils' lead to 11-5 and F&M matched with two of their own for an 11-7 score heading into the final frame. The Diplomats made it a two-goal game early in the fourth, 11-9, but the Red Devils stood tall down the stretch to keep F&M off the board.
Kevin Mollihan paced the offense with four goals and two helpers, while Sean Rogers and Luke Keating both finished with a pair of goals and one assist. Harry Rice struck once and Tucker McBride along with George Briggs both ended with an assist.
Thomas Moore had 10 stops and fell to 4-1, and Cole Pelicano finished with 21 saves to improve to 10-3.
F&M owned shots at 49-33, and the Red Devils held a 39-25 in ground balls.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M wraps up the regular season at Muhlenberg. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
