LANCASTER, Pa. — No. 12 Franklin & Marshall picked up a 21-8 victory over Elizabethtown in men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. F&M improved to 6-1 while the Blue Jays fells to 3-3. The victory was the 100th for head coach Todd Cavallaro in his career.
F&M struck early and often as the game was never really in doubt. The Diplomats jumped out to a 7-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Jays put up a little fight in the second and outscored F&M 3-2, to make it 9-4 at the break.
The Diplomats came out of the break strong with three straight and dominated the quarter 7-2 to take a 15-6 edge in the fourth. F&M started the fourth with a 3-0 run and after a score from E-Town, tacked on two more as the Diplomats cruised to win.
Luke Keating finished with six goals and two assists, Sean Rogers had four goals with four helpers and Harry Rice along with Kevin Mollihan both struck three times. Kyle Scheuerle had two goals while Jack Beatty and Jamie Spruance both ended with one. George Briggs handed out two assists and Jarrett Donaghy as well as Stephen DeSimone each had one assist.
F&M outshot the Blue Jays 51-22, held a 37-27 advantage in ground balls and went 18-for-18 on clear attempts.
The Diplomats return to action on Tuesday when F&M hosts Lebanon Valley at 4:00 p.m.
