LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's lacrosse team helped give back to the Lancaster community by volunteering at the Xcel 2 Fitness program, an after-school initiative aimed at 3rd-through-5th-grade boys.
The program, with its mission centered on using fitness to impart character, was carried out through a six-week curriculum that taught speed, agility, strength, balance, and cardio while embedding teamwork, leadership, and goal-setting into each session.
"Our team was honored to help make this a fantastic event for our community," said Diplomat head coach Todd Cavallaro. "It was an exciting day for the young boys, and we were happy to contribute to program's success."
The F&M men's lacrosse players were given the task of setting up the course by configuring and constructing each of the obstacles. The Diplomats were also present at the event to instruct the boys on how to navigate each obstacle while encouraging the young athletes throughout the day.
F&M captured its first-ever CC Championship in 2017 and earned the program's first NCAA appearance since 2003. The Diplomats downed Elizabethtown by an 11-8 score in the Tournament's Second Round, setting a program-record for wins in a season with 16.
