Diplomats Cruise by Mules; Finish Undefeated in CC Play

LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 15 Franklin & Marshall defeated Muhlenberg 19-4 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. The win is the 13th straight for F&M and gives the Diplomats an undefeated mark in CC action this season. F&M will face Swarthmore in the first round of the CC Tournament on Wednesday with the game time to be determined Monday afternoon.

Six seniors were honored before Saturday's game against Muhlenberg. Anthony DoughertyMike RamaBrad SeemBilly TrizanoNick Wells and Nick Zenobio played their last regular season game at Tylus Field.

Mollihan netted the first two goals for F&M to give the Diplomats a 2-0 lead late in the first quarter. Muhlenberg netted two and tied the game and the Diplomats answered with seven straight in the second quarter and took a 9-2 lead at the break. Mollihan buried a pass from George Briggs and struck unassisted at 10:49 to make it 4-2. Sean Rogers connected with Mike Rama at 7:28 and Rogers finished off a pass from McBride to put the Diplomats out front 6-2. Jared Flamm, George Briggs and Mollihan all found the net for F&M to close out the half with a 9-2 advantage

The onslaught continued in the third quarter as F&M outscored Muhlenberg 7-2. Mollihan and Rogers both netted two in the quarter, while George Briggs, Timmy Hoarty and Aaron Abrams each picked up a goal for F&M as the Diplomats took a 16-4 lead in the final frame.

It was all F&M in the fourth as the Diplomats closed out the game with three unanswered goals. Sam Garges struck at 12:37 followed by Stephen DeSimone at 11:16. Billy Trizano buried a pass from Rob Baxter for the final score of the game.

Mollihan ended with a career-high seven goals and Rogers finished with three goals and two assists to pace the defense. Brad Seem, Shane McBride, and Rob Baxter all had an assist and Tucker McBride ended with two helpers.

Andrew Rose went 9-for-16 from the X with three ground balls and Nick Zenobio ended with two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Nick Wells added two caused turnovers and Hoarty recorded three ground balls for F&M.

Scott Hatch picked up the win with 10 saves and improved to 13-2, Thomas Moore stopped three shots in 15 minutes of action and Lance Gibson took the loss for Muhlenberg with five stops.
