Diplomats Set for Sixth Straight NCAA Tournament

LANCASTER, Pa. — Franklin & Marshall is set to participate in its sixth-straight NCAA Men's Golf Tournament at the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships on May 10-13. The four-day, 72-hole event will be held at the Midvale Country Club and Mendon Golf Club, in Rochester, N.Y., and is hosted by St. John Fisher College and the Monroe County Sports Commission.

The Diplomats received one of 33 automatic qualifier bids for their 11th NCAA appearance after F&M won an unprecedented eighth Centennial Conference (CC) Championship with a team victory at the three day 2016 CC Championship. The conference championship is the 13th overall for the golf program and the seventh in the last nine years for F&M.

Stephen Colodny and Daniel Furman tied for second at the CC Championship after finishing in a five-way tie at 227. Furman has finished in second in back-to-back championships for the Diplomats as both earned All-CC honors and Andy Tompos was named Coach of the Year.

Jon Granville finished at 230 to tie for sixth in the 35-player field. Jon Meissner was a stroke back at 231 and placed 11th  and Brad Lankler tied for 17th after posting 235.

The Diplomats, ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic region, have posted a 305.9 stroke average on the season with four tournament victories (PSU-Harrisburg, F&M Fall Invitational, Kravetz Invitational and CC Championship). F&M is familiar with both courses having played both at Kravitz Invitational earlier in the spring. The Diplomats won the team title with Meissner and Colodny taking the top two spots at 150.
