2016 Diplomats

F&M returns three major contributors from last year's team that put together the most dominant season in program history in 2015. The Diplomats won nine tournaments, which led the nation among all three divisions, dominated the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship, made their 10th NCAA appearance and placed 17th in the nation.

The CC Crown was the seventh for the Diplomats, sixth in the last eight years and marked the program's 13th overall conference championship. F&M took the top spot with a record-breaking 30-stroke victory over McDaniel with a conference record 882 in the three-round tournament.

Key Contributors

Three All-Region players return this year and will provide a solid foundation for the 2016 Diplomats. Junior All-American Brad Lankler was the CC Player of the Year two seasons ago and looks to return to the top of the CC this season. He placed in the top-10 in four tournaments, including first in one competition, this past fall and averaged 72.3 strokes per round.  Junior Stephen Colodny averaged a 74.1 this fall with three top-10 finishes while senior Daniel Furman earned medalist honors at the PSU Invitational and averaged 75.1 strokes per round.

Sophomore Benjamin Mitchell should see time in the top-five after winning the F&M Fall Invitational with a 70 in the fall. Freshman Jon Granville should also contribute to the team scoring after shooting 76.7 per round.

Juniors Steve Altieri, Jared Brown and Jon Meissner are all in mix, as well as freshmen Andrew Woolley and Byung Uk Lee.

The Diplomats will find out early if they have what it takes to win the conference with two early events that will be challenging. F&M opens at the McDaniel Invitational that will feature all the CC schools before heading to the Hershey Cup on April 3rd and 4th to take on the top teams in the region. F&M travels to the two-day Rochester Invitational at Oak Hill Country Club on April 15-16, and will host its Spring Invitational on April 18th. The three-day CC Tournament at the Bridges Golf Club is slated for April 22-24.
