HARRISBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall won the Penn St.-Harrisburg Invitational at Dauphin Highlands, contested on Sunday and Monday. Posting a team score of 581 over 36 holes, the Diplomats dominated the 12-team field, stretching out a 15-stroke deficit over second place finishers York and Gettysburg (596). The win represents the first tournament victory of the 2015 season.
F&M placed three golfers in the top three spots to take control of the invitational. Senior Daniel Furman (71-72) and junior Brad Lankler (70-73) both posted 143 to finish at one under par, tying for first.
Stephen Colodny's Sunday 68 put him in second after the first day and was the second-lowest round carded in the tournament. A Monday 76 put him at an even-par 144, tying him for third place at a stroke behind his teammates.
Having tied for first over 36 holes, Lankler and Furman continued into a playoff, won by Furman on the second extra hole.
Diplomat golfers posted the lowest team round on both days of the event, standing alone at 284 on Sunday and tying with Penn St.-Harrisburg on Monday at 297. All Diplomat golfers finished in the top half of the tournament.
F&M returns to action on Oct. 3 at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic. The two day event, hosted by McDaniel at The Bridges Golf Club, will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
