ASHLAND, Va. – Brad Lankler took the top spot to lead Franklin & Marshall to the Ted Keller Memorial Invitational hosted by Randolph Macon at the Hanover Country Club Tuesday afternoon. F&M shot 592 (286-306) during the two-day tournament, defeating Randolph Macon (604) by 12 strokes while Shenandoah took third at 606 in the 15-team event.
The team title is third straight for F&M during the fall portion of its schedule and the fourth top-five finish for the Diplomats in the four contests this season.
Lankler led the tournament through the first day of action, but struggled in the second round, adding eight strokes to his day one total of 68 to finish tied at 144 with Kyle Fuller from Randolph-Macon. Lankler stepped up in the ensuing playoff rounds, picking up pars on the first two holes and finishing with a birdie on the third hole to win his second tournament this year.
Daniel Furman picked up his third top five finishes with a 147 (71-76) to place fourth in the 74-player field. Christopher Gabriele shot 83 and finished at 153 for 17th on the par-70, 6,478-yard course, while Robert Svigals had a consistent showing with 77-78 to finish in 24th at 155. Stephen Colodny placed 34th with a two-day of 158 (82-76) for the Diplomats.
F&M concludes the fall portion of its schedule next Monday when it hosts the F&M Invitational at Bent Creek Country Club.
