LANCASTER, Pa. — Franklin & Marshall senior defensive end Joe Granahan was named to the D3football.com All-South Region Third Team. The honor is the second consecutive All-Region selection for Granahan.
The teams, selected in balloting by South Region athletic communication directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 234 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 76 players were chosen.
Early this postseason, Granahan (Garnet Valley, Pa. / Garnet Valley) became just the 46thplayer in Centennial Conference (CC) history to be named to the First Team three consecutive seasons. The 2017 CC Defensive Player of the Year, Granahan reset both the Centennial and program record with 36 career sacks. He started in all 11 games this season, and recorded 31 solo tackles and assisted on 25 more. Granahan had 13.5 tackles for a loss, including 10.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 2018.
F&M finished the season with an 8-3 record and made their third straight postseason. The Diplomats capped off the year with a second consecutive victory in the MAC-Centennial Bowl Game.
