Diplomats Set to Host Lycoming in Centennial-MAC Bowl

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall earned its third-straight Centennial-MAC Bowl appearance when the teams were announced on Sunday. The Diplomats (7-3), the CC's third seed will host Lycoming (5-5) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Shadek Stadium.

The Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced the six participating teams in the 2018 Fourth Annual Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. The Susquehanna River Hawks, Ursinus Bears and F&M Diplomats from the Centennial Conference, and the Stevenson Mustangs, Misericordia Cougars and Lycoming Warriors from the MAC will take part in the fourth year of the Bowl Series.

F&M's third-straight appearance in Centennial-MAC Bowl Series is the most by any school in either conference. Stevenson and Susquehanna are both making their second appearances. Lycoming, Misericordia, and Ursinus are all making their first appearance in the annual bowl series.

Susquehanna (7-3) earned the top seed in the Centennial Conference and will host the MAC's top-seeded Stevenson Mustangs (8-2) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Misericordia (8-2) earned the second seed in the MAC and will host the Centennial's second-seeded Ursinus Bears (7-3) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Ticket prices for both Centennial-MAC Bowl Series games will be $5 for adults, $2 for students (elementary through college) and free for Special Olympics athletes and children under six. The two conferences will support the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) partnership with Special Olympics by donating 25 percent of ticket revenue generated during the Bowl Series to the organization. Giving back to local and regional communities not only adds to the comprehensive learning component of Division III but also provides a venue for passion and service.

ABOUT THE CENTENNIAL-MAC BOWL SERIES

The Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced on Nov. 5, 2015, their partnership to hold two postseason football games between member institutions known as the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. In the spring of 2018, the two conferences voted and approved an additional bowl game to increase the series to three games beginning in the fall of 2018. The Centennial-MAC Bowl Series will now be the top three teams from each conference that are not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship.

The format of the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series has changed with the additional game. The top seeds, second seeds, and third seeds will face each other unless the teams have already played that season. In that case, commissioners from each conference will determine new pairings. The Centennial Conference will host the top-seed and third-seed games, and the MAC will host the second-seed game in even years, and vice versa in odd years.

This season (2018), the bowl games are scheduled for Saturday, November 17. The Centennial Conference (teams) will host the No. 1 seed and No. 3 seed games, while the MAC (team) will host the No. 2 seed game this year.
