LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 25 Johns Hopkins defeated Franklin & Marshall 42-12 in Centennial Conference (CC) football action Saturday afternoon at Shadek Stadium. The Blue Jays improved to 5-1, 4-1 CC, while the Diplomats dropped to 4-2, 3-2 CC.
The Blue Jays jumped out to an early 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter and never looked back. F&M answered with 13-play, 81-yard drive that took 4:55 off the clock late in the second quarter. Joe Hartley Vittoria capped off the series with a 3-yard spurt to make it 28-6 at the break.
Johns Hopkins scored 21 straight in the third quarter and took a 42-6 lead into the final period. The Diplomats tacked on one more score at the end of the game when Zachary Bross hauled in a pass from Jack Donaghy with six ticks on the clock for the 42-12 final.
Tanner Erisman completed 9-of-19 passes for 104 yards. Kevin Lammers hauled in three passes for 45 yards and Zachary Bross had 39 on four catches with one score. Joe Hartley-Vittoria rushed 11 times for 42 yards and one score.
F&M has a bye next week and returns to action on Oct. 20 at Dickinson for a 1:00 p.m. game.
