LANCASTER, Pa. — Franklin & Marshall junior defensive end Joe Granahan was named to the All-South Region Second Team announced Wednesday morning. Granahan becomes the first Diplomat since 2013 to earn All-Region honors.

The team, selected in balloting by South Region athletic communication directors and staff, was chosen from 240 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 75 players were selected. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 15, in's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLV.

Earlier this postseason, Granahan (Garnet Valley, Pa. / Garnet Valley) became just the second F&M player to win Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Year, following Jack Savage '89. He also earned a spot on the first team for the second consecutive year after leading the conference in sacks and finishing fourth in tackles for the loss. Granahan ended the season with 49 tackles (36s), four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and an interception.

F&M finished the season with a 10-1, 9-1 CC mark to win the Centennial Conference Championship for the first time since 2004. The 2017 football squad became just the second team in program history to finish with 10 wins.
