Diplomats Provide Strong Showing at Occoquan Sprints

FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – Four boats took to the water for Franklin & Marshall's men's rowing team at Sunday's Occoquan Sprints in Virginia.

The men's Second Varsity 8+ boat, (Meredith Cooney (coxswain), Ben Carroll (8), Sam Parsons (7), Craig Fanto (6), Dylan Smith (5), Steven Nicodemo (4), Ricky Ferris (3), Ngoun Lay (2), Giuseppe Inglima (1)) , led the way by taking first place out of two boats in the junior final with a time of 7:37.18. George Mason crossed second at 8:12.43.

F&M's First Varsity 8+ boat (Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), Aidan Molloy (8), Sean Hyland (7), Lukas Grattan (6), Trexler Hirn (5), James Jarvis (4), Harris Karlin (3), Joel Cannon (2), Brandon Schneider (1)), finished fourth out of five boats in their final with a time of 6:53.81. Delaware was first at 6:22.27.

The Diplomats' Varsity 4+ boat (Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), Aidan Molloy (4), Sean Hyland (3), Calvin Coffeen (2), Joel Cannon (1)) produced a time of 8:06.78 to place fifth in their heat, while the Novice 4+ boat (Kelly Minard (coxswain), Christian Jones (4), Muhammad Ahmed (3), Christian Corrigan (2), Mark Marotta (1)) was second out of two boats in their heat at 8:37.11.

F&M is set to runs to the water on Saturday, traveling to Clinton, N.Y. to take on Hamilton, Trinity, Skidmore, and Vassar.
