FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – Franklin & Marshall's men's rowing team opened the fall portion of its schedule on Sunday at the Occoquan Chase Regatta.
Tamir Shemesh was the coxswain for a Diplomat boat of Lukas Grattan (4), Trexler Hirn (3), Pierce Lawlor (2), and Brandon Schneider (1), that placed seventh out of 13 competitors in the Men's 4+ event with a time of 19:51.66. George Mason secured first at 18:17.76.
A Novice 4+ boat of Zerubabbel Asfaw (coxswain), Jesse Evers (4), Christopher Schiavone (3) Harris Karlin (2), and Nicholas Coury (1), placed first out of two boats with a time of 19:39.85, beating out George Mason (23:09.64), while the duo of Aidan Molloy and James Jarvis finished second out of five boats in the Men's 2X with a time of 25:52.05.
In the Collegiate Men's 8+ event, a pair of boats took part for the Diplomats. A boat of Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), Aidan Molloy (8), Sean Hyland (7), Lukas Grattan (6), Trexler Hirn (5), James Jarvis (4), Harris Karlin (3), Ben Carroll (2), and Jesse Evers (1), registered second with a time of 18:03.76. Another F&M 8+ boat of Steven Nicodemo (8), Calvin Coffeen (7), Christopher Schiavone (6), Sam Parsons (5), Pablo Portela-Lomba (4), Dylan Smith (3), Pierce Lawlor (2), and Brandon Schneider (1), took fourth-place out of six competitors in the event with a time of 19:35.43.
F&M returns to the water next weekend at the historic Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass.
