CARLISLE, Pa. -- Three players scored in double-figures to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 65-60 victory over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action. F&M improved to 13-9, 7-8 CC and picked up the season sweep over Dickinson, while the Red Devils fell to 9-13, 7-8 CC.
Five minutes into the game Dickinson held an 8-7 edge, but F&M responded with an 8-3 spurt for a 15-10 lead at 13:31. The Red Devils came within a point, 15-14, before a Solomon Mathis triple made it 20-16. Dickinson stayed close and eventually tied the game at 23-23 and F&M outscored the Red Devils 12-10 down the stretch for a 35-33 lead at the break.
The Diplomats started out the second with a 10-3 run for a 45-36 lead and went ahead double-figures, 51-40, with 10:36 left to play. Dickinson came within nine, but F&M held an 11-point lead, 57-46, with a little less than five minutes to play. The Diplomats led 61-50 at the two-minute mark and Dickinson made 15-4 run in the final two minutes action, but F&M was able to withstand to secure the win.
Justin Kupa led all scorers with 19 points, hitting 5-for-10 from the floor, while J.C. McGrath netted 15 to go along with 10 rebounds. Solomon Mathis had 14 points with seven rebounds off the bench and Matt Redhead ended with seven.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats host Muhlenberg at 3:00 p.m.
