WESTMINISTER, Md. -- Cedric Moune picked up his sixth double-double of the year with 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 17 Franklin & Marshall to a 59-43 victory over McDaniel Thursday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action. F&M improved to 9-2, 4-0 CC and the Green Terror fell to 5-5, 2-2 CC.
Glenn Robinson improved his career win total to 899. In addition to being the most victorious coach in NCAA Division III history, Robinson is fourth across all divisions, trailing only Mike Krzyzewski (1,031), Herb Magee (1,020), and Bob Knight (902).
Lionel Owona collected two boards and scored twice as F&M jumped out to a 6-2 in early minutes of the first half. Cedric Moune's layup at 15:41 kicked off a 10-4 run that put F&M up 18-8 at 10:42 and the Green Terror answered with four straight to come within six.
McDaniel made it a four-point game, 20-16, with a little over five minutes left in the first and the Diplomats countered with a 13-4 spurt to close out the half and went into the break with a 33-20 lead.
Brandon Federici paced F&M with nine first half points and Moune contributed eight for the Diplomats.
McDaniel scored the first four points of the second stanza before Moune netted six straight and Jared Wright scored five unanswered to fuel a 13-4 F&M run that put the Diplomats up 46-28 with 11:16 remaining in the half. F&M maintained control the remainder of the game and held a double-digit lead during the final 10 minutes of action.
Tim Stewart led McDaniel with 16 points and Wes Brooks scored 11 for the Green Terror.
F&M outshot McDaniel 53-44 percent and held a 35-17 edge on the glass.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M hosts Swarthmore at 3:00 p.m.
