Diplomats Bounce Back Over Bears; Federici Sets CC Mark

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall handled Ursinus 91-38 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Wednesday evening at the Mayser Center. The Diplomats improved to 18-4, 11-4 CC while the Bears dropped to 9-13, 6-9 CC.  F&M held Ursinus to its lowest points total this year. 

Brandon Federici tallied 30 points and reset the Centennial Conference (CC) single-season scoring record for a freshman. Muhlenberg's Malique Killing set the previous in 2012 with 449 points and Federici ended the game with 453 points this season. Federici missed just one shot all evening, hitting 9-for-10 from floor, with a perfect a 7-for-7 in three point attempts. His 20.6 points per game this season lead the nation's freshmen among all divisions.  

Devin Figueroa hit four triples and finished with 16 points for the Diplomats while Jared Wright tallied 10 on 4-for-6 shooting. Morgan Lee finished with nine points and Cedric Moune shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field for eight points. 

Malik Draper led the Bears with eight points while Remi Janicot finished with seven points. 

The Diplomats outshot Ursinus 65-29 percent, held a 34-25 edge on the glass and converted 18 turnovers into 24 points.

F&M started out hot and never cooled down as the Diplomats took a 24-6 lead at 12:31. The Diplomats quickly increased their advantage with a 13-5 run and went up 26, 37-11, on a Federici triple at 5:34. The teams traded buckets before the Diplomats finished off the half with eight straight and went into the break with a 48-14 lead. 

The Diplomats continued their dominance in the second half and went up 40, 60-20, at 14:58.  F&M maintained at least a 42-point edge the remainder of the contest and lead by as many as 56 down the stretch. 

F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Muhlenberg for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
