LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall starting pitcher Jack Buckley was named to the 2018 Perfect Game/Rawlings Summer Collegiate All-America Second Team. The Diplomats' rising junior was one of just two Division III student-athletes to make the list, which honors performers across all collegiate divisions of the top summer leagues in the country.
Buckley competed for the Watertown Rapids of the Perfect Game League, accumulating a 1.96 ERA through 50 1/3 innings. He totaled a 5-1 record and struck out 51 batters. Earlier in the month, he was also named to the Perfect Game All-League First Team.
A total of 22 leagues and more 200 players, making up some of the top prospects in collegiate baseball, were considered for the All-America team. The Cape League led the way with 11 honorees, followed by the Northwoods League (7), Costal Plain (6) and Perfect Games (6).
Buckley enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign for F&M in 2018, recording a 5-1 record with a 3.47 ERA. He struck out 48 batters in 49 1/3 innings of work and surrendered just nine walks, en route to receiving All-Centennial Conference (CC) Honorable Mention recognition.
