Series History: Franklin & Marshall travels down to Baltimore in search of its first win in the series since the 2015 season and its first victory in Baltimore since 2013.
The all-time series with Drew is split at 2-2, dating back to the 2014 season. Against McDaniel, F&M holds the narrow 49-43 edge all-time and the series is tied at 3-3 in the last six games in Westminster.
A Look at Hopkins: The Blue Jays head into Tuesday's contest with a 19-10 overall record and a 9-4 mark in the Centennial. Johns Hopkins has won nine out of its last 10 games but split with Haverford on Saturday after dropping the nightcap at 13-8. The Blue Jays' pitching staff has paced the team with a CC-leading 3.42 ERA.
A Look at Drew: The Rangers hold a 15-10 record entering play this week and are 4-1 at home this season. Drew is hitting at a .295 clip but its pitching staff has accumulated a 4.63 ERA. Shortstop Zach Lipshitz leads the lineup with a .410 batting average and a team-leading 43 hits.
A Look at McDaniel: The Green Terror head into the week with a 9-11 overall record and a 3-7 CC mark. However, McDaniel has been better of late in CC competition with three wins in its previous four games. The Green Terror have hit the ball well in 2018, ranking third among Conference teams with a .297 batting average.
Last Week: The Diplomats produced a 3-1-1 record last week, including a 2-1-1 CC mark that put F&M in the thick of the Conference playoff chase. Action opened on Monday with a come-from-behind 10-8 (8 Innings) victory over Messiah on the road. Recap.
Conference play on Tuesday saw the Diplomats extend the game three times in the ninth inning or later as F&M eventually had to settle of a 6-6 (14 Innings) tie against Ursinus at home. Recap.
The second game of the series with the Bears saw each team's offense come to life in a 26-12 bashing by F&M on the road. Recap.
Saturday's doubleheader against Swarthmore saw the Diplomats end a six-game winning streak for the Garnet with an 8-5 victory in the opener, before F&M suffered a 15-1 setback in the nightcap. Recap.
Marano Named POTW: Marano earned his second CC Player of the Week honor this season and the third of his career after producing a .500/.593.864 slash line in 22 at-bats last week, tallying 11 total hits which included a pair of home runs and two doubles. The senior first baseman collected 10 RBIs, scored seven runs and drew three walks in a 3-1-1 week for the Diplomats.
Milestones to Watch: Senior ace Mike Androconis has accumulated 16 wins in his career, a mark that is tied for sixth-best all-time and places him four shy of the program record (20) held by Ted Serro '06.
Androconis' three complete-game shutouts are tied for second, behind only Serro in first with five, while his 182 strikeouts are fourth all-time. With his 32 career starts, he also is closing in on the program record of 33 held by Alex Guerra '15.
Marano's five home runs on the year are tied for fourth in single-season history and are the most by a Diplomat since the 2010 season. Dennis Dowd holds the record with 10 during the 1982 season.
He was also begun making his way up the career RBIs list with 73, which places him tied for 15th entering the week. Jason Anderson '10 leads the program with 108.
Among the CC Leaders: Dan Marano's .380 batting average is third amongst Centennial batters while his 24 RBIs place him in third entering the week. J.J. Freeman is tied for fifth in runs scored with 26, while Jimmy Whelan's 10 doubles are tied for fourth.
Historic Strikeout Pace: F&M's pitchers are on a historic pace for striking out the opposition in 2018. As a staff, the Diplomats are averaging 8.89 K's per nine innings, good for the highest total in single-season history. The 1988 squad is next with an 8.04 average.
F&M has totaled 221 strikeouts, good for ninth on the single-season list. The 2005 team leads the way with 271.
100 for Marano: With a 2-for-4 effort against No. 15 Southern Maine on March 18, Dan Marano reached the 100-hit milestone for his career.
Closing Time: Reliever Andrew Mascis tossed three shutout frames to record his 16th career save, taking over sole possession of the Centennial Conference's (CC) record in F&M's 5-1 win over York on March 6. His save moved him past Haverford's Charlie Carluccio who set the career mark in 2011.
