Series History: F&M's schedule kicks into full gear with four games over the next six days. Action begins on Wednesday when the Diplomats host Centennial Conference (CC) opponent Gettysburg at Caplan Field. These teams face off twice this week in a series dating back to 1893. The Bullets lead by a 107-62-1 margin, while taking the sweep last season. Johns Hopkins comes to town on Saturday for a double header at Caplan. The Diplomats have taken three straight against the Blue Jays, however Hopkins leads the all-time series by a 52-32 mark.

Scouting the Opponents: Gettysburg (11-5) enters the week with a .295 team batting average, while its pitching staff has combined for an impressive 2.80 ERA. Hopkins (9-6) has a .300 batting average, with its pitchers combining for a 3.29 ERA.

Last Week: The Diplomats went 3-1 last week, including wins in both of their first two games at Caplan Field. F&M took down Wilkes on Tuesday when a Jimmy Whelan walk with the bases loaded delivered F&M a thrilling 2-1 victory in 11 innings. In a double header against McDaniel on Saturday to open CC play, F&M suffered a hard-fought 2-1 loss (12 innings) in game one, despite a solid pitching performance from starter Alex Guerra. The Diplomats responded in the nightcap with an offensive outburst in a five-run seventh inning to secure a 10-4 victory.

Freshman starting pitcher Mike Androconis (2-1) continued to impress, tossing seven innings and not allowing an earned run, while striking out six. Dan Marano led the attack with a 3-for-4 effort to go along with three RBIs and a run scored, while Brett Poniros tallied a 2-for-5 line with two runs scored and a stolen base from the leadoff spot.

Action concluded on Sunday with a 5-1 victory against Arcadia at home. Eric Bateman (2-0) produced his second solid outing of the week, earning the win after tossing six innings, striking out six and allowing just two hits and zero earned runs. Chris Mathewson, Chris Haylon and Andrew Mascis came out of the 'pen for three innings of shutout ball. Poniros paced the offense with a 3-for-4 effort to go along with one RBI, while Tyler Daley went 1-for-2, scoring three runs on the afternoon.

Daley Named CC POTW: Daley earned the Diplomats second consecutive CC Player of the Week nod and the first of his career, after batting at a .545 clip last week for F&M. The speedy sophomore outfielder collected six runs and six hits with two doubles through four games. His on-base percentage was .615, while his slugging percentage sat at .727. He also drew a walk and stole a base.

Milestones to Watch: With a pair of wins on the season, Guerra now has 14 victories in his career, a mark that places him just six shy of the F&M record. The program's all-time leader is Ted Serro '06 with 20.  Guerra has also entered the top-10 in strikeouts with 114 in his career. Todd Marshall '92 leads at 220. The Diplomats' senior right hander has started 26 games during his time in Lancaster, putting him just four shy of the F&M record of 30 from Mike Gossner '03.

Mathewson (49) and Andrew Green (43) are both closing in on the career appearances record, sitting third and eighth respectively. The record belongs to Nathan Diercks '02 with 58.

Top of the CC Class: Through the early portion of the 2015 season, several Diplomats find their names atop of the CC statistical leaders. Daley (.441), Marano (.436) and Brian Erb (.426) rank third, fourth and fifth respectively among conference batting average leaders. Marano's 18 RBIs are tied for first, while Poniros' eight stolen bases are good for fourth. Erb and David Iacobucci have both swiped seven bases on the year, which is tied for fifth in the CC.

F&M's .352 team batting average is the best in the conference, along with its 138 runs scored, 113 RBIs, nine homers and 42 stolen bases.

Schedule Changes: F&M's home game against Gettysburg was originally set to take place on Tuesday, March 28 at Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the Lancaster Barnstormers. However, due to rain in the forecast, the contest will be played at Caplan Field on Wednesday.

The Diplomats were scheduled to face non-conference opponent Wesley on Wednesday, however that game will now take place on a later date, which has yet to be announced.
