LANCASTER, Pa. – Matt Metsch pitched a complete game to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 6-1 victory over visiting Ursinus Monday afternoon at Caplan Field. The win puts the Diplomats on top of the Centennial Conference (CC) standings.

The inning started with two quick outs before David Randolph’s single got things started. Two batters later, Rob Vogt singled up the middle platting Randolph. With runners on first and second, Metsch worked out of the inning and settled in from there.

The Diplomats (13-9-1, 6-2 CC) used two three-run innings to pick up the win.

The opening wave of runs started in the bottom of the first. Ursinus’ Corey Weaver (0-3) walked the first three batters of the day setting the table for Diplomats’ designated hitter Jay Anderson. Anderson’s two RBI single up the middle got the ball rolling for the Diplomats. Nick Rolnick reached on fielder’s choice scoring Shea Moriarty making the score 3-1.

Franklin & Marshall struck again in the fifth. Weaver found himself in a familiar situation with the bases loaded.
