What is SALC?

Franklin & Marshall College’s Student-Athlete Leadership Council (SALC) is a council made up of approximately 100 student-athlete representatives. SALC organizes events to increase community involvement, fundraise, and boost DIP pride.  Through these events, the organization contributes to the local area and enhances the student-athlete experience. SALC provides athletes the opportunity to further develop valuable leadership skills and become an integral part of the school and Lancaster communities.

SALC Mission Statement

To develop leadership qualities in Franklin & Marshall College student-athletes, establish leadership roles in local communities, and inspire teamwork and leadership.

SALC’s key initiatives include:

Track-or-Treat: an event for youth to trick-or-treat on Halloween night in the safe environment of the College's Alumni Sports & Fitness Center.

4L Day: a 4-hour leadership workshop for selected athletes in the Lancaster-Lebanon League led by F&M student-athletes and coaches.

TEAMWORK: yearly service project that supports Lancaster City Alliance by sweeping, cleaning up, and collecting litter from the surrounding areas in the community. More than 600 F&M student-athletes along with members of Greek clubs, and other students contribute, making it one of F&M’s largest community outreach programs since its establishment in 2004.

Professor Appreciation Reception: annual event in which athletes invite professors to a reception in appreciation of their support of F&M athletics.

Brother-Sister Teams: each team is paired with another of the opposite season. Brother-sister teams work together during the Track-or-Treat event and make an effort to support one another throughout the year.

Concessions: organize concessions for all home games held on Tylus field or in Mayser Gymnasium to support SALC endeavors.

Other Events we support include:

  • F&M SLAM
  • Squash ACES
  • Homecoming
