LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall used quality serving and efficient offense to cruise past Bryn Mawr on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action. The Diplomats improved to 11-5, 3-1 CC with the win while the Owls fell to 2-10, 0-4 CC.
F&M set the tone early, putting together an 8-1 run thanks to quality service from Mary Leneweaver and Dani Skelly for an 11-4 lead. Later in the set three straight aces from Allison Edelstein fueled an 8-0 run that allowed the Diplomats to take an easy 25-14 victory in the first.
The second set saw F&M further increase its momentum, jumping out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a solo block, block assist, and kill from Christine Yoo. The Diplomats continued to roll from there, getting kills from Skelly and Sarah Landry to close out a 25-10 landslide victory in the frame.
The F&M dominance continued in the third set as three kills each from Yoo and Landry enabled a 9-0 run on the serve of Parys Zambas. The Diplomats would lead by as much as 14 at 22-8 before taking the set and match with a 25-14 victory in the third.
Allison Edelstein collected a career-high seven aces on the day as F&M logged 10 total. Landry (12 kills), Yoo (12 kills, .588), and Polisano (11, .625), paced a Diplomat offense that hit .364 on the day. Edelstein and Skelly shared setting duties, recording 25 and 18 assists, respectively.
Yoo tallied two solo blocks and two block assists to lead the defense, while Skelly added three block assists in the victory.
F&M returns to the court for more CC action on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. match at Johns Hopkins.
